Error Codes

If your home generator is experiencing an issue, it might not work as expected. Contact us today to clear any codes, and find your code to better understand your generator.

If your home standby is displaying this error code, resetting the controller and restarting your unit may do the trick.

If your unit does not start after two automatic attempts, there is an issue. Make sure the gas to your generator is turned on. If the handle is lined up with the pipe, your gas is on. If your handle is lined across the pipe, this indicates that the gas is turned off. If the gas is on and your unit is still not working or is running rough, contact an authorized service dealer.

This code usually displays when the controller detects high RPM. This can be caused by defective ignition coils. Please contact an authorized service dealer to diagnose and service your unit.

When your home standby is displaying this error, the first thing to check is your oil level.

If oil is needed, add oil per recommendations in your owner’s manual. Be careful not to overfill the engine. If the oil level is good and your unit is still not working, a service call is needed.

RPM sense loss can be caused by a lot of separate issues, RPM sense loss is the unit controller sensing that the engine is not operating. Most common causes are weak battery or faulty starter.

First attempt to clear the code/alarm for immediate resolutions. Turn the generator controller to the OFF position; Then press the ENTER button twice. Once controller reads SWITCHED TO OFF you have successfully cleared the alarm. Place the controller back to AUTO, If not utility power is present and your unit should attempt to restart and restore power to your home. Any time this alarm is present please call your local Generator Supercenter.

If the unit will not start in AUTO when there is utility loss, clear the alarm by pressing the ENTER button twice, then press AUTO. Then, using the control panel, check the battery. To do this, navigate to the BATTERY MENU option from the MAIN MENU. If it states ‘check battery’, try replacing the battery. If it states that your battery is ‘good’ when being checked, contact an authorized service dealer.

To do this, navigate to the BATTERY MENU option from the MAIN MENU. If it states ‘check battery’, try replacing the battery. If it states that your battery is ‘good’ when being checked, contact an authorized service dealer.

This code is caused by the RPMS of the unit dropping below the allowed threshold, this is commonly caused due to the unit being overloaded by the homes current electrical demand. Please call your local Generator Supercenter for service assistance.

A sudden drop in voltage can set off this error code. For this code, a service call is needed.

Your unit shows this code when you controller senses an overload condition. Load shedding should be installed to prevent this from happening in the future.

Indicates a weak or dead battery most commonly cause by a charging fault.

Service call is required, contact your service provider for a battery replacement or charger assessment.

IMPORTANT – To avoid equipment damage, follow these steps, in order, during utility outages. Shutdowns may be required during utility outages to perform routine maintenance or to conserve fuel.

TO TURN THE GENERATOR OFF:

Set the main utility disconnect to OFF 

Set the generator MLCB (generator disconnect) to OFF (
Allow the generator to run for a cool-down period of approximately one minute

Place your generator controller to the OFF position 

It is very important to remove the load from the generator prior to shutting down.

When running the unit during a long-term outage, it is vital that you shut the unit down every 24 hours to do a visual inspection of the unit and add any Oil it might need.

After oil level is checked turn your unit back on following the steps below 

Turn the generator to the AUTO position

Wait for you generator to start and stabilize. ( 30 SECONDS)

Set the main utility disconnect to ON

 Set the generator MLCB (generator disconnect) to ON

If you are experiencing a blank controller with no screen some of the causes may be a failed battery, blown fuse, or a power surge caused harm to the circuitry. Immediate service is required.
